Didja hear the news? It’s Olympics time again! This HY the Awesome Games are being held in some place called Rio de Janeiro. That’s some place way far far away from here, my state, the Great State of CA. Why it’s further away than FL-land. I’m quite familiar with the trip to FL-land so it’s hard for a Little Dog such as myself to imagine how long it must take to get there. Plus I heard Rio is not even in the US of A. & I would have to get something called a Passport to go there. Not sure I could secure a passport without the Powers That Be recognizing a Dog’s Rights as a Citizen of this country.
Be that as it may, it’s hard to believe that Olympic Time is here again. I been observing Olympic competition for a number of HYs now. 1st ones were in Beijing, which is in China . . . another place far far away & which I prolly won’t ever seen with my own eyes. Those were some opening shows & ceremonies. Lots of the color Red, which is especially attractive to those of us in K9 Nation. Blue too.
The Climate Change Segment of the opening ceremonies resonated most with us, here at Todo Chronicles. Anthropogenic Climate Change is 1 of the themes of this year’s event. They are talking about Climate Change brought about by human activity & well, we, here at Todo Chronicles, couldn’t agree more that humans have to face the music & slow climate change before all the shorelines of the world, along with many of the smaller, low lying island, disappear & humans & all other land living critters will suffer bc there won’t be enough room for all. & that’s not to even discuss what happens to all the sea critters. Humans just don’t know, which must come as shock & surprise since mostly humans seem to think they know or, at least, can predict everything.
At any rate, there was a brief video with the opening message:
“Promoting world peace is the basis of the Olympic spirit. Today there is an urgent need to also promote peace with the planet.”
The video, narrated by Brazilian Academy Award-nominee actress Fernanda Montenegro and British Academy Award-winning actress Judi Dench, featured Ed Hawkins’ visual spiral indicating rising global temperatures, together with an animated projection of rising sea levels on places that included Amsterdam; Dubai; Lagos; Shanghai; Florida; and the city of Rio de Janeiro itself.2016 Summer Olympics opening ceremony – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Think Globally. Act Locally. & enjoy the Games of the XXXI Olympiad. It’s a real & welcome break from all the blather of current & unending Presidential Political Season, which, contrary to popular opinion, did not end in the HY 2012.
